{"id":85,"date":"2021-01-20T04:18:00","date_gmt":"2021-01-20T04:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ensabm.usms.ac.ma\/newsite\/how-to-harness-the-power-of-online-learning-5\/"},"modified":"2025-09-22T20:36:33","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T18:36:33","slug":"how-to-harness-the-power-of-online-learning-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ensabm.usms.ac.ma\/newsite\/how-to-harness-the-power-of-online-learning-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Undergraduate Tuition Fees Axed At All Universities In Germany"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With the start of the winter term comes very welcome news for those who&nbsp;<strong>study in Germany<\/strong>&nbsp;at degree level: undergraduate<strong>&nbsp;tuition fees&nbsp;<\/strong>at all<strong>&nbsp;universities in Germany<\/strong>&nbsp;have now been axed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the majority of the&nbsp;<strong>German states<\/strong>&nbsp;had already been offering low-cost or completely free tuition, only now, with the removal of fees in Lower Saxony, can the nation call itself completely free of tuition fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the German states to scrap tuition fees as far back as 2012 was the state of Hamburg. Hamburg\u2019s senator for science, Dorothee Stapelfeldt,&nbsp;explained to The Hornet&nbsp;the reasoning behind the move. \u201cTuition fees are socially unjust,\u201d she said. \u201cThey particularly discourage young people who do not have a traditional academic family background from taking up studies. It is a core task of politics to ensure that young women and men can study with a high quality standard free of charge in Germany.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No fees for international students, but some for postgraduates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While tuition is now free at all universities in Germany, there is still a nominal cost that all students will be charged. This cost, usually no more than \u20ac250 (US$315) per semester, is in place to cover administration, student support services and other unavoidable costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students at master\u2019s level may also still be expected to pay some tuition fees if they did not study in Germany for their bachelor\u2019s degree. These \u2018non-consecutive\u2019 students can expect to pay fees of around \u20ac10,000 (US$12,644) per semester.
